Tucked away on a quiet Lenox Hill block, the five-story home offers an exceptional living experience and is situated in a beautiful row of townhouses in Lenox Hill on the Upper East Side of Manhattan. 130 East 62nd Street is one of several surviving Italianate style row houses on East 62nd Street between Park and Lexington Avenues. The house was originally one of a row of four brownstone houses (nos. 126-132) constructed in 1871 for builder John McCool. Although most of its original ornament remains, the house has been altered by the removal of its stoop in 1912. The house is significant not only for its architectural merit but its location in the coveted landmarked Upper East Side Historic District.  East 62nd Street between Park and Lexington Avenues is one of the few blocks in the historic district to retain a substantial number of row-houses from the early period of Upper East Side development.  The classic townhome is perfectly situated on one of the most beautiful tree-lined blocks and home to numerous classic brownstone townhomes, grand mansions and luxury prewar apartment buildings as well as convenient to extensive shopping and dining options of the neighborhood.
