The quietest & most secluded of 1871 House’s offerings is without a doubt the Knickerbocker Suite, which is found by way of a private foyer. The studio is immediately recognized for its size with around 485 SF total & a comfortable 20’ by 18’ main living area. A handcrafted walnut & blackened steel queen bed sits against a white brick chimney wall, underneath a beveled pine framed mirror & centers the apartment. The Knickerbocker Suite’s warm atmosphere is enhanced by the smooth stone flooring which extends throughout the suite & complements the light color palette of much of the Knickerbocker’s design. Two cozy eating nooks are another unique aspect of the studio: one extends just off the kitchen, with high wicker chairs and a wooden bar, and the other is a corner table with bistro chairs, off of the main living area. There is a comfortable twin daybed resting against one wall. The understated, pleasantly subdued feel continues in the kitchen area, with a honed granite countertop extending from a subway tile backsplash and recessed lighting. The kitchenette includes a small refrigerator, microwave oven, coffee maker, electric kettle, and toaster oven. Stone tiles continue up the walls in the bathroom, setting off the shower’s mosaic floor, the nickel of the medicine cabinet and faucet, and the porcelain pedestal sink.
