10 steps down from the house's ground floor lobby, this spacious studio apartment has its own private foyer. The "Cat Knocker" and a humorous "Chat Lunatique" sign affixed to the front door signals your arrival to the Mission Studio. Three overhead light fixtures located in the large entry foyer and a table lamp are in keeping with the Mission Arts & Crafts movement.
The spacious studio apartment features a queen size solid cherry wood handcrafted Mission style bed. A large beveled mirror framed in pine is centered behind the headboard on the chimney wall.
A comfortable traditional club style loveseat converts to a twin bed. A twin folding bed that may be placed anywhere in the room, is available and stored in the storage space within this room. Irish turn-of-the-century Country Pine antiques include a "bardic" chair and a small pine nightstand. Other antiques include an early American dresser. A round travertine marble top table with wrought iron frame serves as a side table and a large glass-topped table also with a wrought iron frame serves as the main dining table. Two beautiful archways divide the Mission studio into separate area of the room.
A collection of black and white prints of "Old New York" as well as other prints line the walls of the Mission Studio and serve as your own private art gallery.
There is a separate dining area just off the kitchenette that is furnished with a dining counter and butcher- block cart. The dining area and kitchen floor are beautifully designed with Italian "terracotta" tile. The small kitchen contains an under-the-counter refrigerator, a sink, a microwave oven, a coffeemaker, electric kettle and a toaster oven. Two area rugs are scattered over the room's carpeted floor. Approximate size of this unit is 400 square feet. Main living area is 20' x 18'
The apartment has a private tiled bathroom with shower stall.
** Special Note: this apartment is 10 steps below our ground floor level (commonly found in New York Turn-of-the-century townhouses). While this feature provides for no view, it also makes this apartment especially quiet and private. A small window allows for some natural light. TV with full cable (including HBO, Cinemax and Starz channels) is hidden inside an armoire. Private phone/modem line and A/C.
